Wednesday walk, BBC Sponsored - Medium/ Hard
**Bookings not required for Wed walks.** Woods Reserve to Square Rock Carpark Leader: Henry Gardner (0431 016 975, henry.gardner585+walk@gmail.com) This walk will "join the dots" between Woods Reserve and Square Rock carpark along the Tidbinbilla ridge. After setting up a car shuffle, we will leave Woods Reserve along the powerline easement to the south and then cross Corin Rd. We then bash steeply up towards the ridge through rough scrub, stopping to enjoy a view of Gibraltar Falls which should be running strong. We will take advantage of a fire trail to speed up our approach to the ridge to the north of Hill 1356. Heading along the ridgeline, we will stop for a view down to the Tidbinbilla Valley, before lunching at some impressive rock formations on top of Hill 1356. Our journey thereafter will take us down to a saddle to the north of Billy Billy Rocks. Unfortunately we do not have time for BB Rocks today. We will cross BB Creek and make our way up to some familiar rock slabs for afternoon tea, and then cross the BB Rocks track, and descend across another saddle, to finally reach Square Rock carpark. This is a long, scrubby walk with an expected duration of eight hours for 8.6 km. It is suitable for fit, experienced, off-track walkers and prospective walkers who are uncertain whether they will be able to complete this walk in a timely manner are invited to consult with the leader. Club members doing their first Wednesday walk, and anyone who is not a member of the BBC, NPA or CBC clubs, must contact the leader to discuss the level of difficulty of the walk. Distance: 8.6 km. Climb: 636 m. BBC grading 11. CBC grading M/R. Map: Tidbinbilla 1:25000 and Corin Dam 1:25000. Cars: 72 km ($10 per person). Meet at Kambah Village shops (Marconi Cres, opposite petrol station) at 7:45 to leave at 8.00am. At this stage the weather for Canberra on Wednesday is partly cloudy, with a temperature range of 7-23 degrees, and no rain.
