Wednesday walk, NPA Sponsored - Medium
**Booking not required for Wednesday Walks.** GOOGONG - HELLS HOLES AREA A walk on the medium side starting at the Googong Dam picnic area. Walk up to the ridgeline above the dam and along the Queanbeyan River Fire Trail to Bradleys Creek. On the way have morning tea at Gormans Trig (no longer really a trig). Descend the rocky creek to the edge of the Googong Reservoir and have lunch. Climb steeply up back to the fire trail and backtrack over Gorman trig to another track going down to and along the Borrow Pit inlet of the reservoir then along to cross the saddle dam and on to a lookout over the dam (where I might bore you with details of the dam). Continue along a walking track to the picnic area to complete the walk. Meet at the Queanbeyan Swimming Pool car park in time to depart at 8:30am. Alternatively may drive directly to the Googong Picnic Area to be there no later than 8:45am. Round trip of 30km cost $5 per person. Leader Mike Smith, 0412 179 907 or msmith@netspeed.com.au Walk distance about 15km with climbs totalling around 500m but mostly on fire trails. Weather forecast from BOM (23 March) partly cloudy with temperature up to 27 degrees and a low chance of 1mm of rain in the afternoon or evening, light winds Those doing their first Wednesday walk and also prospective walkers who are not members of the BBC, NPA or CBC clubs must contact the leader to discuss the level of difficulty of the walk.
