CBC: M/E Wednesday Walk: Molonglo River and Arboretum Circuit
Wed 09th Jul 2025
Walk
Bookings available to active members only.
No bookings required for joint club Wednesday walks.
As the forecast is for a cold and damp day I aim to start a bit late and finish early afternoon. The walk is mainly on track, with some walking through open grassy woodland and some steepish ascents. Could be muddy in patches
The route will begin cross-country from the meeting place (carpark on Barrenjoey Drive), along the lake shore to Scrivener dam. From there we'll follow the Molonglo River and the Zoo till we pass under The Parkway and then make a beeline through the pines into the National Arboretum. From there we head up to Dairy Farmers Hill and down into STEP (Southern Tableland Ecosystem Park) and the National Rock Garden. Another short climb to Visitor Centre and lunch (optional coffee). Thence back to the cars via The Wide Brown Land feature and the Himalayan cedars.
Those doing their first Wednesday walk must contact the leader to discuss the level of difficulty of the walk.
A walk or similar activity with a duration of a day or part day. No overnight gear required.
