WED WALK BBC SPONSORED 4 OCTOBER E/M

**NO BOOKINGS ARE REQUIRED FOR JOINT CLUB WEDNESDAY WALKS** Palmerville Heritage Park - Gungaderra Grasslands - Gungahlin Hill Circuit 12.4 kms At this stage the forecast for Wednesday is for showers increasing with a maximum temperature of 24'c. With that in mind, we should finish the walk by lunchtime and hopefully avoid any unpleasant weather later in the day. From Palmerville Heritage Park we follow a track towards the Barton Highway. We then follow a bike path for a short distance until we reach the entrance to Gungaderra Grasslands Nature Reserve. This reserve is a very attractive area and we walk through Yellow Box - Red Gum woodland as well as Natural Temperate Grasslands. It is the habitat of the striped legless lizard, the golden sun moth and the perunga grasshopper - but must admit I haven't seen any of the aforementioned when I have previously visited the area..... After we have done a rough figure eight loop, we return the same way to Palmerville Heritage Park. There are a couple of gentle climbs involved - including Spiders Hill - but they are only for a short distance. Bring morning tea with you but there is no need to bring your lunch as we should be back to the starting point by then. Meet: 8.30am Palmerville Heritage Park which is opposite the Belconnen Soccer Club on Owen Dixon Drive, McKellar. There is plenty of parking , but be aware that there is major roadwork in the area with the duplication of Gundaroo Drive. Access to the parking area is still available. Weather Forecast: See above.... Map: Hall LEADER: John Ellis 62412658 (Prospective walkers who are not members of the BBC, NPA or CBC must contact the leader to discuss the level of difficulty of the walk. Non club members must also be sponsored and accompanied by a club member).
