Medium-Hard Wednesday Walk, 11 November 2026, HILL 1063 - a hill on the Marshall's Break Firetrail
Nov 11, 8:30 AM
From the car park at the Curries Road corner on Brindabella Road, we ascend southwest up the Wombat Road firetrail, to its junction with the Marshall's Break firetrail. Then it's roughly south up a short and steep pinch to the Percy-listed Blundell Hill (1047m). Blundell Hill has an interesting natural history which makes it of particular interest to ACT peakbaggers. Then it's roughly east along Marshall's Break, across terrain with excellent views to another high point at Hill 1063. Following a meal break at the high point, we descend down the Wombat Creek Trail towards a lower crossing of Brindabella Road. After carefully crossing the road, we descend further towards Wombat Creek itself and its confluence with Condor Creek. Then it's roughly south-west over undulating country back to the cars at the Curries Road corner. The walk is over Ordovician-age Adaminaby Beds and through a variety of vegetation types. While I personally visit the 'Blundell precinct' regularly, I last led a CBC walk here in 2015.
