Easy-Medium Wednesday Walk#2, 9 Sept, Gibraltar Slabs and Gibraltar Rocks (CBC)

Starting from the Devils Gap Firetrail carpark we will walk up to Devils Gap and then off track, through light scrub, to an overgrown firetrail along the ridge towards Gibraltar Rocks. After a short while we will descend off track again to a massive rock platform with spectacular views of the Tidbinbilla valley - a platform that I call "Gibraltar Slabs". After morning tea, we will make our way off-track along the slabs and then up to the ridge again and proceed generally northwards to meet the Gibraltar Firetrail. The rest of this walk is pretty standard - we will hike up the firetrail to Gibraltar Rocks and then down the track to the Dalsetta carpark to complete a car shuffle.

Although this walk has a substantial off-track component, the scrub is comparatively light so it should be reasonably accessible. Having said this, there will be plenty of trip hazards so good balance and sure footedness will be needed. Bring along gloves and eye protection. Gaiters and poles could also be an advantage.

Meeting: Kambah Village shopping centre carpark, Marconi cres, opposite servo to leave by 9am. Carpooling $10 pp for three passengers in a car - $30 per car otherwise. Tidbinbilla part entry fees may apply.
