Bango Nature Reserve

An off-track circuit of approx 8 km in the open forest of Bango Nature Reserve, north west of Yass. This country is dryer than Namadgi. The open forest lets the sunshine in. There is a small creek with some cascades where participants can choose to do some rock scrambling or to walk steeply up between small boulders beside the creek. Other highlights will include some ancient grass trees, graceful white-barked gums, early spring flowers, an old stone trig point, an old hut site, and occasional views out over the surrounding farmlands. The roughest sections, apart from the cascades area, are the crossing points of a few gullies with steep, loose dirt sides. There will be some logs to get over. Pace will be moderate, and slow to moderate on the uphills. Image shows the top of the optional scrambling spot.
