Let’s have a scout around Tuggeranong Hill. We can hike the area a few times, each different walk being optional. You can leave at any time you’ve had enough.
Walk 1: From our meeting point in Callister Cres (entrance between 25 and 29) Theodore, we’ll top the two knolls in the north-east part of the Nature Reserve. Great suburban and mountain range views further afield. We’ll continue on to visit the Theodore axe grinding grooves and return via the suburban edge management trail. Around 5km and 240vm climb.
Walk 2: From out meet point, we’ll walk NW on the edge management trail, then turn off-track up a lovely open woodland spur. At a shallow saddle, we join a footpad steeply up to Tuggeranong Hill trig. Our return is initially down the main Tuggers Hill FT, then off-track steeply down through woodland to join the southern suburban edge FT and so back to our vehicles. Around 4km and 210vm climb.
Walk 3: From our meet point, walk up the main Tuggers Hill FT to the trig again. Descend to the NW via a footpad, then across the N flank of the hill again on FT. A short off-track leg, then back to our cars via management trail. Around 4.5km and 220vm.
“I’ll have that with the lot” – around 13.5km and 670vm climb. Graded M/M CBC, M(10) BBC, 2A/B NPA.
