Medium-Hard Wednesday Walk, 22 July, Punchbowl Creek Falls, White Horse & Other Rocks (NPA)
Wed 22nd Jul 2026
Bookings available to active members only.
No bookings required for joint club Wednesday Walks
Leader: Philip Gatenby for NPA, 0401 415 446 or philip.gatenby@gmail.com
From Corin Dam Road we follow old forestry roads then off track down beside Punchbowl Creek (scrub assured) to the falls. From here climb steeply south to White Horse Rocks then south-east into the grasslands of the headwaters of Blue Gum Creek. The creek is followed for a kilometre or so. Time permitting, we then head north-west to explore Hill 1457 and another outcrop to the west. The walk is mostly off track with a couple of steep climbs and includes rock scrambling and thick scrub. The outcrops west of Smokers Trail are unfamiliar to the leader. Scrub gloves, gaiters and eye protection recommended.
Distance and climb: 12 km and around 600 m
Grading: M/R, BBC 11
Maps: Corin Dam 1:25,000
Meet: Kambah Village Shops in time to leave by 8 am
Cost: $10 per person
Weather: As of Sunday the BOM forecast for Canberra on Wednesday is for morning frost and partly cloudy, 0-13 degrees.
Those doing their first Wednesday Walk, and those who are not members of the CBC, BBC or NPA, must contact the leader to discuss the level of difficulty of the walk.
