Rendezvous Creek is a gentle, boulder strewn water way that meanders through the rugged southern section of Namadgi National Park. Starting at Rendezvous Creek Trail head the hike follows the contours of the creek to the North West to the Bimberi Wilderness Area through a classic sub-alpine valley landscape with wide, frost-hollowed grassy flats surrounded by steep, forested ridges dominated by massive, weathered granite outcrops. The route involves varied terrain across a flat to undulating landscape, mostly off-trail but also utilizing management trails, bush tracks and rough footpads through expansive grasslands and native forested woodlands. Gaiters or long pants are mandatory for leg protection. Given the nature of the terrain (surface, vegetation, steepness), the hikes linear distance of 14.5km with an elevation gain of 300m makes this physical effort equivalent to a 17.5 km on-track walk. The hike is likely to be challenging and is expected to take 4.5hrs-5.5hrs to complete at a steady pace. It is best suited for walkers who are comfortable off-track, possess a moderate-to-good level of fitness, and have successfully completed at least one hike of a similar nature within the past 3 months. Nature Connection: This walk intentionally balances social walking with short, clearly defined periods of quiet, attentive mindful walking and a brief sit spot to foster a more immersive experience of and a deeper engagement with the landscape. Participants should be comfortable with occasional silence and willing to engage respectfully with this rhythm of walking. Conversation is warmly welcomed at all other times.
