This walks is designed to introduce families with kids aged 6 and upwards to bush-camping, as distinct from camping near a car, in a beautiful old growth forest. We start with a 3 km walk, on- and off-track, into a rarely-visited camping spot in a large forest glade at the head of a creek. On the way we'll explore a granite outcrop with a view and a bit of optional rock scrambling. The off track walking will involve some steep, loose slopes, patches of scrub, and clambering over logs. After setting up camp, there is an optional off-track afternoon walk of about 1.5 km return to the top of a nearby hill with some more granite rocks. All your gear will need to fit into your back-pack, so that means light-weight tents and small stoves, and means no eskies or tents of a size you an stand up in. We will have a small after-dinner fire, for toasting marshmallows. On the second day we will walk out by a shorter route, and get to the cars before lunch time.
