CONDOR HILL - Upper Cotter Catchment
Wednesday, 10th of June
Leader: Dave Abela for CBC, 0482 802 050 or tangodancing4me@gmail.com
We’ll start our walk not too far from Urriara Village then make our way on fire trails to the Upper Cotter Catchment area. This is a surprisingly easy and delightful walk which has magnificent views of the upper reaches of Cotter Lake and the upper Cotter River. For most of this loop, we’ll be traversing through the untouched native forests of the water catchment area. We’ll go around Condor Hill and then have our lunch on a grassy slope with a grandstand view of Lake Cotter. The walking on this loop is very easy going as it’s all on fire trails. The forecast at this stage for next Wednesday looks like some rain(?)…there is something soothing about walking in forest country on a rainy day! There are some small sections of the trail with moderate hills, loose rocks and small shrubs, but apart from this, it’s a really easy 13 kms or so.
