Medium-Hard Wednesday Walk - 25 Feb - McKeahnie Trig (CBC) - Possibly subject to change.

This walk will be led by Henry Gardner (0431 016 975 please text first) on behalf of CBC.

Starting from the Square Rock car park, we will walk along the regular track towards Square Rock but will take the left branch to the Orroral Valley Lookout rather than SR itself. The rest of the walk is off-track and involves rock scrambling and some scrubby parts. We keep going over the lookout, and start to descend a steep slope in a south westerly direction to reach a nice place for morning tea. We will then continue our descent steeply with some stops at large boulders for views down to Orroral Valley and across to McKeahnie Trig and higher peaks. After crossing thick scrub around the creek at the bottom of the descent, the rest of the journey to McKeahnie Trig is pretty open. After lunching at McKeahnie Trig we will then descend to the Corin Rd and complete a car shuffle back to the Square Rock car park.

This walk is tough in parts so bring gloves, gaiters, protective glasses and plenty of water.

AS THE WEATHER FORECAST FOR WEDNESDAY IS POOR THIS WALK MAY BE SUBJECT TO MODIFICATION OR CANCELLATION. CHANGES WILL BE POSTED TO BILBY AND TO THE LISTS BY 7PM TUESDAY EVENING.

Total distance around 10km. Elevation gain of 480 metres. CBC grading M/R, BBC grading 10.

MEETING TIME AND PLACE: Kambah Village shops (Marconi Cres, opposite petrol station) ready for an 8.00am departure.

DRIVING DISTANCE: 70km (suggesting $30 per car or $10 per passenger assuming three passengers).
