Cotter Dam and Pierces Creek M/H - Wed 11 Feb 2026

From the car park we go to the Dam lookout and then broadly follow the shoreline for about 6km, half on track and half through open bush. (Blackberries may be intruding on the tracks in some places.) As we near Pierces Creek gully the walk becomes harder. We descend steeply through some thick scrub and with some tricky rock scrambling reach the creek bed and a nice (early) lunch spot where the creek runs into the dam. After lunch we follow the creek upstream for about 800m to the cars. The easiest option is to have footwear suitable for walking through some shallow water as the scrub on both sides of the creek is very thick. Total distance is estimated to be about 8 km
Those wishing to car pool should meet at Argus Park, Peter Cullen Way, Wright by 8.15. Cost per vehicle would be $12 (ie $3 or$4 per person) .If you drive yourself, go across the Murrumbidgee and then the Cotter bridge and turn LEFT into the car park where the old Cotter Pub used to be (ie NOT into the main picnic area). See marker on Map location. Please be there by 8.30 so we can organise a car shuffle to the finish point. .
