Stan's Kosi Weekend
Sat 23rd Jan 2027
Bookings available to active members only.
Stan Marks led an annual ‘Kosi weekend’ for over 20 years up until his passing in 2021. This activity continues to be held in memory of his contribution to the Club over many years.
We'll arrive to Charlotte Pass on Saturday lunchtime, and check out on Monday, once again staying at the Southern Alps Ski Club. There is the opportunity for anyone who would like to spend more time to do so, though this is by prior arrangement.
True to Stan's legacy, this is very much a social activity with some bushwalking activity to balance it out. Therefore, it is intended to be a relaxing weekend with a variety of walks to cater for the majority of abilities within the group, potentially from L/R/X if there is anyone wanting to lead such a walk, to M/E-M options. All very much depend on the weather conditions in the mountains on any given day.
Suggested walk options:
SATURDAY afternoon - Mt Stilwell circuit from the lodge (~5km, 2hrs return); alternatively, one of the three sections of the Snowies Alpine Walk.
SUNDAY - - Charlotte Pass Village to Perisher Valley (13km, 397m) car shuffle required; or Little Twynam and Mt Twynam circuit (14km, 784m); Pipers Creek Trail circuit (15km,290m); or if anyone is keen, the Main Range track. MONDAY - Porcupine Rock (4.5km, 130m); or Mt Perisher Loop (8km, 410m); or Rainbow Lake (3km, 50m). Though if you prefer to just chill out in the Lodge and read a book or paint, then that's fine too. Walks for the next day are discussed the evening prior.
Catering:
Dinner catering is on the basis of everybody brings something to share. There will be a roster drawn up for this to make sure we have enough of everything. Self-catering arrangements for breakfast and lunches. There are no supplies available in the village, so best to bring whatever food and drinks you require to meet your own needs for the duration. Commercial kitchen, cool room fridge, gas oven/cooktop, microwave, slow cooker, cooking items, cutlery and crockery supplied.
