Description: Even on multi-day bush walking trips, you can eat light-weight, tasty, nutritious and well-presented food. This presentation will cover the planning, purchasing, preparation and menu items for multi-day bush walks. The types and varieties of food that we have taken on recent bush walks will be discussed. Also, commercially bought, make your own, or a combination of both will be compared.
Nutrition values will be looked at. The differences between air-dried and freeze-dried will be reviewed. Samples of food will be made available. We will talk about cooking methods and fuel usage. Also, you are invited to bring your own favourite recipes/ideas for light-weight food options and tell the audience about them.
About the presenter:
Bruce and his partner Monika have undertaken numerous multi-day walks over the last 5 years. Some recent trips have been up to 18 days in duration. The longest recent trip without food drops has been 11 days.
