Partner with Conservation Council - Western Edge Walk for public: Bluetts Block
Sat 20th Sep 2025
Bookings available to active members only.
CBC is partnering with the Conservation Council ACT Region to provide four walks in the ‘western edge’ of Canberra.
The aim of these walks is to “expose members of the public to the area, to promote the Conservation Council’s campaign to protect the Western Edge. We just want more people out there to be connected to and to care about the area”.
The western edge is defined as bordered by the western sides of Molonglo Valley, Western Creek and Tuggeranong in the east, the Murrumbidgee River in the west, and the Molonglo River in the north-east. Details of the Conservation Council’s campaign are at https://conservationcouncil.org.au/western-edge/.
The 4 hikes are:
- Saturday 20 September: Bluetts Block
- Tuesday 14 October: Mt Stromlo and Brown Trig
- Sunday 23 November: Murrumbidgee River Walking Track south from Cotter
- Wednesday 7 January 2026: Tongs Hole to Namarag along the Molonglo River.
Each activity needs a leader and an experienced member to help monitor up to 10 members of the public. (I am initially marked as leader only to validate leader and helper bookings.)
Further information here.
Please consider paying a bit forward, enhancing conservation activities and helping the public appreciate the 'western edge' area.
