MEDIUM/HARD WEDNESDAY WALK - MOUNT BOLLARD - 2 JULY 2025 (BBC)
**No bookings required for joint club Wednesday Walks** This Medium to Hard graded walk will be led by Leigh Hermann (0417 147 260) on behalf of the Brindabella Bushwalking Club. We leave the cars 9km south of Captains Flat on Wild Cattle Flat Road and walk 2km up an old very indistinct fire trail to Mount Bollard (morning tea). From there it is off-track, south down a spur to Ballinafad Creek, which we cross (lunch here) and follow upstream to Post Creek. We then follow the creek east of the road, a tributary of Post Creek, back to the cars. In the morning the terrain is rough - much fallen timber underfoot, rocky at times, and a very steep loose descent with some scrub. The Ballinafad Creek crossing is calf-deep with a sandy base, possible to cross bare-foot, but you may wish to bring water-shoes and a towel (the water may be very cold). The afternoon section following the creek on open grassland is delightful and a great reward for the morning's efforts. The pace will be not be fast. Gloves, gaiters and poles required for the rougher section. Climb: 400m. Distance: 11 km. BBC Grade: Medium (9). Map: Tinderry Forecast for Canberra: Min 3C, Max 12C. 70% chance of 0-10mm rain. Cars: 108km ($15). Meet: Spotlight, Queanbeyan, at 8:15 ready to leave promptly at 8.30am. Those doing their first Wednesday Walk must contact the leader to discuss the level of difficulty of the walk. There is a mailing list for Wednesday Walks. CBC Members wanting to go on this list can write to wednesday.walks'at'canberrabushwalkingclub.org (replacing 'at' by '@')
