A vigorous morning walk to approach the summit of Black Mountain 3 different ways, hence the title '3 ups n 3 downs'. Its a repeat of the circuit underaken in May earlier this year. A small group, as the pace up hill will be moderate, to exert ourselves and recovery breaks short. Training for something? Downhill, the pace will be slower as some parts are steep and rocky / gravelly underfoot. Formed trails, except for two short sections off trail through open woodlands to link up with the Hat Band trail.
