Orroral Valley Exploration with a Side Trip to the Granite Tors
Sat 27th Jul 2024
Walk
This is a repeat of a wonderful walk led by John Evans. I couldn't resist putting it on myself (with his very kind permission) as it is a stellar route! From the track head at the former Orroral Valley Tracking Station we'll explore the mid valley area, taking in indigenous and European sites, and crossing the Orroral River at least twice to ensure we get an opportunity to get wet feet! Real bushwalker stuff! Having been tempted by the super views to the granite tors on both sides of the valley after lunch we'll walk an old favourite - the Granite Tors Walking Track. This track has been recently renovated after the fires and takes a new route with fire-proof stone steps replacing what was formerly a bit of a trudge on an old service. Distance is approx 21km with an ascent of 580 m. Bring a torch for a tor explore.
