Mount Budawang
Sun 28th Jan 2024
Walk
After our long drive through Braidwood and Mongarlowe (1.5 hours) we park our cars then it’s all on track up a graded, leaf-littered fire trail to the fire tower at the top of Mount Budawang for lunch and panoramic views of Currockbilly Mountain, Pigeon House, the Castle, Durras Mountain and, on a clear day, the south coast. This walk will take us through several environments, from grassy woodland, among cows (in the fields to the side), through montane forest finally arriving at the top where grassland predominates. We may even see the rare Budawang wallaby grass which is only here and on Currockbilly Mountain. Along with the views our reward is a stop for coffee in Braidwood on the way back to give our drivers a chance to refresh,
