Walk, Back-pack

For the Canberra Aboriginal Reconciliation Long Weekend 2024, I’m reprising part of a walk in the Ettrema Wilderness that I did last year but this time as a through walk via the little used Blayden's Pass.
The first day (Saturday) we will leave cars on the Braidwood/Nowra road and walk off track for 9km to Discovery Cave for two nights. If time we may visit Waterfall Cave on the way. The next day we will do a sidetrip to explore the pagodas of the Lost World (aka Passages of Time) and possibly Bollards Cave. The final day we head to Danjera Ck and up Blaydens Pass from where we walk on a fire trail for 10km back to the cars. I'm hoping for a magnificent banksia display during this time of the year.

There are no big ascents; maybe at most up to 200m for a single climb. But there'll be rockhopping in creeks, rock scrambling, and pushing through scrub and regrowth. I'll bring secateurs just in case. All up around 40 km of walking over 3 days including sidetrips. Given the off track terrain, participants should have good fitness and balance, and bushwalking experience with overnight packs. They should keep their individual pack weights low for their own comfort and group safety. The side trips are optional - participants can chill out at Discovery Cave if they wish.

There’ll be a small car shuffle so an early start on the first day (Saturday) will be needed.

Booking requests from guests or without details about name and emergency contacts will not be accepted.

There'll be 13km of track but the rest of the walk will be offtrack. I expect thick regrowth especially in the gullies and saddles resulting from the 2019/20 summer fires. I intend to bring some secateurs just in case.
