Waitlist Commenced
Coastal Cliff Top Walk for some whale spotting and finish up with a forest walk on the second day.
Leave Canberra Friday midday/early afternoon. Drive to Bonnie Vale Camp Ground in the Royal National Park. Set up Camp.
Day 1: Saturday - The Coast Track. 18km, 6-7hrs. 852m ascent
First 3 quarters of the walk will be heathland, sandstone escarpments and cliff top on well formed tracks, up and down steps (just need to be mindful of sand/erosion). Multiple opportunities to stop take in the scenery, photos, whale watching hopefully. Last 6km will be turning inland through forest and a bit of elevation gain. Modified walk as Garie beach is closed due to erosion landslide, we will do about 70% of the intended track and exit at Curra Moors carpark. Car shuffle required (40 mins total).
Day 2: Sunday - Palm Jungle Loop. 10km 4-5hrs. 352m ascent
A challenging and spectacular walk, meanders through coastal rainforest, beaches and cliff tops offering spectacular ocean views. Part of this walk will cover part of the original coast track walk if done end to end. Drive back to Canberra by evening.
Note: Please note this walk is subject to change due to rain/erosion in this area, I'll keep an eye on alerts and inform the group as needed.
Weather conditions: Please be prepared to rain and high wind as the terrain is on coastal clifftops.
A multi day backpacking or base-camping activity.
