Shoalhaven Rock Ribs

A riverside walk to an area of dramatic scenery where the Shoalhaven River meets rock strata that are at right angles to its flow, and starts to become a gorge. We walk initially through fairly open forest, past some shafts from gold mining days, and then descend to the river bank for some strenuous rock-scrambling past unusual rock formations, cascades, large pools and occasional beaches. We may see some early spring flowers. The walk will suit people who, when offered a choice of a rocky route and an easier way round it, prefer the rocky route :-) At least two wades of the Shoalhaven, probably up to knee deep. This walk is on crown land and river reserve. We will meet in Queanbeyan (meeting point to be confirmed after you book).
