Glendale Depot to Caloola Farm
First, because we need to do a car shuffle, we will leave some cars at Caloola Farm. The walk commences from the Glendale Depot car park, heading in a generally southerly direction at first as we walk past the Glendale Depot. Then we take a vehicle track heading eastward, this track becomes the Brandy Flat Fire Trail. This part of the walk will give you a good little workout. After 5 km of undulating and sometimes steep fire trail we arrive at Brandy Flat Hut where we will have morning tea. From Brandy Flat Hut we head to the north-east along the Gudgenby Creek Fire Trail. As the trail’s name suggests, it follows Gudgenby Creek for much of the trail’s length. With the recent rains the creek should be flowing well and it will be giving us some pulchritudinous views. Although we are mostly descending along this fire trail there are a few uphill sections. The Gudgenby Creek Fire Trail is 7.4 km long, however the last 1.7 km of this trail is on Caloola Farm. Shortly before the trail leaves Namadgi National Park there are some very pleasant shadey spots near the banks of Gudgenby Creek. This would be a good place for us to have lunch. After leaving the National Park it is only a short stroll to the cars parked on Caloola Farm.
