Medium/Hard Wednesday Walk, 4 Nov 2026, Granite Features Near Smokers Loop (BBC)

We park at the Square Rock car park again this week and follow Smokers Loop for about 1 km before heading up (south) to the first major rocky outcrop, where we’ll have morning tea. For the rest of the day we zig-zag a bit, visiting five very different granite features along the way. There’ll be time to explore at least three of them. After the last of these, it’s a long descent through the bush until we reach the Square Rock track, which we follow back to the car park.

The off-track portion is only about 4.5 km in total, but the regrowth, fallen trees and broken rock keep the pace down to about 1 kph in the bush. Long pants, gaiters and gloves are highly recommended. These rocky features are worth the battle to reach them.
