Easy-Medium Wednesday Walk #1, 21st of October, Stringy Bark Reserve & Barracks Creek (BBC)
Oct 21, 8:30 AM
No bookings required for joint club Wednesday Walks
Leader: Dave A. for BBC
Description: Stringy Bark Reserve, just south of Mount Jerrabomberra, is a very large area of hilly eucalypt woodland that is criss-crossed with many trails. We’ll start our walk from the carpark and main entrance to the Mount Jerrabomberra Reserve on Halloran Drive, Jerrabomberra, then make our way onto walking trails out of this reserve and into the Stringy Bark Reserve. The walking trails here are very well defined, generally about a metre wide and criss-cross the whole reserve. There are several unnamed hills to explore and some dry gullies that lead into Barracks Creek, where we might stop for lunch. The walking here is quite easy, with a mix of walking tracks, fire-trails, gentle ascents and descents, no steep or slippery trails, shady forest cover most of the way, loose rocks and lots of optional routes to choose from.
Bring your walking poles if you wish…it’s quite rocky in places.
