No bookings required for Wednesday Walks

This is a nice out and back hike to Nursery Creek Swamp. From the car park just off Orroral Road the track leads up to a saddle via a series of stone and timber steps. The track then flattens out with boardwalks and stepping stones across boggy areas. There are some massive granite boulders along the way and as well as opportunities for bird watching. We will have morning tea at a flattish area just above the main part of the swamp before returning back to the cars by the same track. FYI Nursery Swamp is better described as a large fen i.e. a peat-accumulating wetland. Nursery Creek Swamp is said to have been used as a calving and lambing ground by pioneer graziers during hard winters and hence the name Nursery Creek. Distance: 10 km. Elevation gain: 270 m.

Grading: Short (CBC), 6 (BBC), 1A (NPA)
