This is a relatively easy walk in the vicinity of Yankee Hat carpark.
Our first Point of Interest may well be driving in the upgraded (June 26) Old Boboyan Road, now at 2WD standard (crossings of Hospital Creek still to be negotiated).
From the carpark (toilet) there are magnificent views to the nearby Yankee Hats and Mt Gudgenby, and up Middle Creek to the hills at the heart of Namadgi National Park – Mts Kelly, Burbidge and Namadgi.
We’ll walk fire trails to the east, through the Gudgenby Bush Regeneration area to Eleanors Grove. There will be views to Smiling Rock on the flank of Hospital Hill.
Further south, we’ll duck off-track to the “brick factory” geological feature, then head west to Frank and Jacks Hut (toilet).
We’ll then head across the causeway over Bogong Creek, through the aboriginal corroboree site and north to the Yankee Hat rock art and its steel walkway.
From here, we’ll stroll across the Gudgenby Grasslands to J Rustins Hut site, then a b-line south-east to Sinclairs Hut site.
Back over the steel bridge and walkway over Bogong Creek, we’ll take a detour to the confluence of Middle and Bogong Creeks, then back to the carpark.
Around 16km and 450vm climb spread throughout the hike, on fire trails and open off-track. 2 geocaches.
