Medium-Hard Wednesday Walk, 2 Sept, Sherwood Homestead and Surrounds (BBC)
Wed 02nd Sep 2026
Bookings available to active members only.
No bookings required for joint club Wednesday Walks
Leader: Henry Gardner for BBC
This is the time of year that daffodils will be in full bloom at the Sherwood Homestead historic site. This is a medium-hard walk to this area that includes an excursion to the Brindabella National Park. The walk will be a mixture of fire trails, small tracks and off-track.
From the Mountain Creek Rd carpark, we walk along the Sherwood Rd fire trail to its intersection with the Upper Tumut powerline which we follow uphill for views of the surrounding area. We then loop back down to Sherwood Homestead for morning tea and flowers. Fire trails and bush bashing will then take us up to Genges Trail in the Brindabella National Park. We walk along Genges Trail to the Lower Tumut powerline easement and down it to Two Sticks Road. We will weave our way back to the carpark via a bushy excursion to Two Sticks Hill. On the way back, we will ascend Mt Dowling if time permits.
Distance 16km, climb 700vm
