The Worn Boot Bash: Bimberi Edition
Fri 20th Nov 2026
Bookings available to active members only.
Want to climb the ACT's highest peak but don't want to carry an overnight pack? Let's bash it out in a day! A yearly tradition stretching back to 2002, the WBB demands only that we walk a minimum of 30km, with a few hills.
From Yaouk Gap we will walk on track to Murray Gap, then on indistinct footpads consolidating to summit Bimberi. Reverse to get back. (Alternately a less repetitive lollipop towards Oldfield's Hut with 2.5km off-track section to start the day. TBC)
To enable a 7am walking start, we’ll drive down on Friday afternoon and car camp at Yaouck Gap. Please indicate if you’re willing to drive and have a 4x4 or a capable AWD and an adventurous spirit.
This will be a very long and challenging day of walking for fit walkers. Could take 9-12 hours of walking. Daylight, 6am - 7:30pm. Mostly firetrail and track, with a bit of indistinct footpad. We'll be getting home late so set your DVR to record A Country Practice if you don't want to miss it.
