This walk starts at the climbers' car park alongside Corin Rd just short of Woods Reserve. We first follow some overgrown fire trails north-east down Gibraltar Ck and hop across the creek to reach a lovely, sunlit hillside that rises to the ridge bounding the Gibraltar Ck valley to the east. We will make our way off-track to a saddle point along this ridge where, with some effort, views can be obtained down towards Booroomba Station. We will then turn back and traverse a higher part of the valley southwards to arrive above the rather spectacular Snake Rock. We then descend and cross Gibraltar Ck again before reaching our cars for the trip home.

The terrain is mostly off-track with light scrub. Things can get a bit tangled along the ridge itself and there will be some relatively easy rock scrambling required. Gaiters and eye protection are strongly recommended and some people may wish to take poles for the creek crossings.

Total distance is about 6.5 km with about 350vm height gain. It will be fairly slow going but a gentle walk; I estimate it will take about
6 hours in total including breaks to soak up the winter sun and enjoy the views.

Grading S/R (CBC), 9 (BBC)

As of Thursday 2 July, the BOM forecast for 8 July is for morning frost and then a mostly sunny day with a maximum of 13 degrees and light winds.

We will meet at Kambah shops, Marconi Crs, opposite the petrol station, to leave at 08:30. Suggested contribution is $24 per vehicle or $6 per passenger for a car of four including the driver.

If walkers wish to meet at the trailhead rather than Kambah, please contact the leader beforehand.

Those doing their first Wednesday Walk, and those who are not members of the CBC, BBC or NPA, must contact the leader to discuss the level of difficulty of the walk.
