The trip consists of 3 main walks, all staying in huts, which I have pre-booked for a gro up of 12. I have also pre-booked all of the bus shuttles and most of the accommodations. Cost is $1865, plus other incidentals From Christchurch , we’ll start with the Banks Peninsula Track, near Akaroa. This is a 3 day coastal walk along cliff tops and forests with a (1.5 hr) kayaking option to visit the penguin and seal colonies in the Pohatu Marine Reser ve. After this, we will make our way to Te Anau over three days where we will have time to do a few of the South Islands’ most highly rated sh ort walks in the mountain regions. With Te Anau as our home base, our se cond main walk will be NZ’s newest “Great Walk”, the Hump Ridge tr ack. This 3 day trek starts by walking along the South Islands’ most s outhern beaches. The well groomed track then sends us high into the moun tains for sweeping views of the wild and very remote south coast. Some r est time back in Te Anau is then followed by an “out and back” 7 day traverse of the Hollyford Valley. We will walk the full length of this stunning valley in Fiordland NP all the way to the west coast, then re-t race our steps (with a few changes) back to the start.
