Medium/Hard Wednesday Walk - 17 June - Rob Roy Nature Reserve North (BBC)
Wed 17th Jun 2026
Bookings available to active members only.
No bookings required for joint club Wednesday Walks
Leader: Prue Deacon (6286 1573, 0487 388 959 (SMS), prue.deacon@ozemail.com.au)
This walk has lots of ups and downs over hills and through gullies with good views from the northern end of Rob Roy Nature Reserve. Mostly off-track through open woodland and former pasture but with some difficult scrub in the gullies. Gloves plus long pants and/or gaiters are recommended for these areas.
From Conder we walk to one of the reserve entrances and climb a small hill (GR 920 725) and then Hill 887 (GR 927 725) for morning tea. We continue to the eastern border of the reserve, follow the border southwards and climb a spur to the main Rob Roy track, with the option to continue to the top of Mount Rob Roy. Lunch in an open area before descending on a fire trail, then cutting across to the starting point off-track.
Meeting point: Jane Sutherland St, Conder, just in from the intersection with Templestowe Ave (ie this is the northern end of Jane Sutherland St). Be ready to start walking at 8.30 am. We'll have plenty of time, so can take the steepest climbs slowly.
Distance: 14 km. Climb: about 600m. BBC level: Medium (10). Map: Tuggeranong. Weather forecast (for Canberra): partly cloudy, 5-17
This walk is for members of the BBC, NPA or CBC clubs. Those doing their first Medium/Hard Wednesday walk must contact the leader to discuss the level of difficulty of the walk.
