Starting from Chapman, we will do a pleasant peri-urban circuit walk – along the way taking in Cooleman Ridge, McQuoids Hill and Mount Arawang. Beautiful views en route of the Brindabellas, other points to the west and south and the city. All on track or fire trail, with a few climbs and descents. Bring your lunch and snacks.
Distance and climb: 13 km and 415 m
Maps: Tuggeranong and Canberra 1:25,000
Meet: 9 am for a 9:15 am start at the Kathner Street, Chapman, entrance to Cooleman Ridge Nature Reserve (opposite 37 Kathner Street, see here
Transport cost: none, self-drive
Weather: at this stage for next Wednesday,10-19 degrees, rain 0-4 mm. If forecast deteriorates significantly, the walk may be cancelled
Those doing their first Wednesday walk and also prospective walkers who are not members of either NPA, BBC or CBC must contact the leader to discuss the level of difficulty of the walk.
