The Nature Reserve is home to several threatened species including the Striped Legless Liz ard, the Earless Grassland Dragon and the Golden Sun Moth. We’ll start our walk from the Narrabundah Lane entrance of Callum Brae Nature Reser ve passing through extensive Yellow Box and Red Gum forests and then pau sing to view and read the story of the Callum Brae homestead which is st ill working property today. We’ll then make our way into the open gras slands of West Jerrabomberra for a while, then back into the woodlands a gain for a loop around the southern part of the woodland reserve. We’l l then start heading north to view more of the grasslands again with swe eping views out towards Jerrabomberra. We’ll close the 13km loop by wa lking back into the Callum Brae reserve. This is a relatively easy walk on mostly firetrails with some small sections of off-track through light scrub Distance: 13kms (We should finish before 2pm) Track Description: Mostly on firetrails and well formed single track. A few gentle hills, n o steep sections. Some short but easy sections of off track. Gaiters are recommended and bring walking poles if you wish. Meeting Time: 8.15 am for an 8.30 am start Meeting Place: Starting from the intersection of Mu gga Lane and Narrabundah Lane, drive 500 metres along Narrabundah Lane a nd you’ll see the entrance to the Callum Brae Nature Reserve on your r ight. Parking for the walk is next to the entrance gate. Transport: Meet at the start. No car pooling. What to Bring: Day-pack, sunscreen, hat, 2 litres of water, morning tea and lunch. Those doing their first Wednes day walk and those who are not members of the BBC, NPA or CBC must conta ct the leader beforehand.
