Easy-Medium Wednesday Walk #2, 25 March - MOUNT REEDY & KOWEN ESCARPMENT NATURE RESERVE (NPA)
Wed 25th Mar 2026
Bookings available to active members only.
No bookings required for joint club Wednesday Walks
Leader: Dave Abela for BBC, 0482 802 050 or tangodancing4me@gmail.com
The Kowen Escarpment NR is a beautiful pocket of bushland adjacent to Sutton Road. The walk will traverse around and through the reserve in a big loop from south to north and back. This is a hilly walk and it will all be on fire trails. We start with a walk up to the top of Mount Reedy for lovely views out to the Queanbeyan area and the eastern side of Canberra. As we continue along the trail, we’ll see many wallabies and kangaroos. This is quite an interesting walk in an area that not very many people visit, on the harder side of medium due to the many hills. The trails are very good but there are patches of loose rocks so you might want to bring your walking poles for stability.
Meeting Time: 8.15 am for an 8.30 am departure
Meeting Place: Spotlight carpark, adjacent to the roundabout, cnr. Bungendore and Yass Roads, Queanbeyan
Transport: Car pooling from Spotlight carpark, 16 km round trip. $2 per passenger
Weather for next Wednesday: 14C to 27C, mostly sunny, low chance of a shower
Those doing their first Wednesday Walk, and those who are not members of the CBC, BBC or NPA, must contact the leader to discuss the level of difficulty of the walk.
