A 27km, 2 day, day pack coastal walk from Tathra to Merimbula. Our “Wharf to Wharf” adventure will be split over two days, Saturday and Sunday, making it a relatively easy weekend. We’ll do a car shuffle on both days. On Day 1 we’ll start at the Tathra Wharf, then make our way to Scotts Hut picnic area on Wallagoot Lake (13kms). Then on Day 2 we’ll start back at Scotts Hut and walk the remaining 14kms to Merimbula.
I had originally intended to make this a full pack weekend with camping halfway at Hobart Beach campground, but it appears that the campsites there are booked out for that weekend. So, I’ve made it a nice and easy two day day pack walk instead.
We will base ourselves in Merimbula for the weekend, although you don’t have to stay here, as long as you’re somewhere close to either the start or the finish of both towns. I have booked a 3 bedroom cabin at the “Beach Cabins Merimbula” Holiday Park which looks quite nice. I have two rooms now available, one person per room, cost will be $133 per person for the two nights (Friday, Saturday). First in best dressed, but if you miss out on mine, they have several more available to book and share with others.
Keep in mind also that you will have to be ready to start the walk in Tathra at 9am on the Saturday, so it’s strongly advised that you drive down on Friday afternoon/evening.
