Hill 1409 is often seen but rarely visited. In i ts northerly aspect it presents as a pyramid that sits between the Tidbi nbilla valley and Corin Dam. We will venture there from the south starti ng from a locked gate along Corin Dam Road about 2km before the dam. The walk first follows an old power line easement up a steep hill towards t he east before turning north. We then head off-track to a ridge before d ropping down steeply to White Sands Creek. After crossing this creek (an d topping up water bottles) we follow a direct bearing to the top of Hil l 1409 traversing steep hills of scrub and scree. We will enjoy the "vie ws of our labours" at the summit before returning a slightly different w ay along a rocky ridge to White Sands Creek and retrace our steps from t here. This is a long walk across steep terrain with rock scrambling and scrub. Gloves, gaiters, eye protection and plenty of water recommended. Walking time of about 9.5 hours. Climb: 721m. This is a joint walk with the Brindabella Bushwalking Club. Walking time of about 9.5 hours. Climb : 721m. Cars: 86km ($12). Map: Corin.
