In this activity, we will approach the summit of Mt Majura, 3 different ways ( 3 up & 3 down). There is a little bit of crossover of trails throughout the morning. The first approach uphill requires a steady effort and involves a short, sharp and very steep segment uphill on a narrow footpad. The second approach uphill is rougher underfoot and involves an off track climb passing through Casuarina trees and over some fallen trees/timber from the northern end. The final approach involves part of the zig zag section of the Casuarina trail and the final leg of the ascent is off track near a gully. The uphill sections require a good effort, and steady footing, also for the downhill. Some parts are rocky, gravelly and can be slippery underfoot. Poles are handy for the downhill. Approx 4 1/2 hours including breaks for morning tea, extra snacks, and catching our breath!
