The Kumano Kodo is an ancient pilgrimage trail criss-crossing the Kii Peninsula in Wakayama prefecture, to the South of Osaka. The Kumano region is the spiritual home of Japan. It is a peaceful mountainous labyrinth of forested volcanic hills and gullies, peppered with ancient shrines and legends. A journey through the Kumano region will take you through the heart of Japan and its culture.
This talk will introduce you to the Kumano Kodo and provide some tips on how to plan a successful pilgrimage of your own to this beautiful corner of Japan.
