Located in Southwest National P ark, and part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. The Weste rn and Eastern Arthur Range Traverse covers extensive, rugged topography and funnels walkers through narrow corridors throughout much of the ran ge. The landscape that contributes to the area's World Heritage values i s made up of steep slopes, alpine moorlands and glacial lakes. The range s are a geological delight. Walkers will mainly journey through alpine h eath and alpine scrub vegetation. Elsewhere, buttongrass heath is widesp read and scrub, wet forest and patches of rainforest occur on the lower slopes. This will be up to a 11 day trip and the dates exclude travel ti me to the walk. It will be weather dependent and may be cut back as weat her situation dictates.
