Easy/Medium Wed Walk - 18 Feb - ASHBROOK FIRETRAIL, TIDBINBILLA – 11 km Easy (BBC rating 7)

This Easy to Medium graded walk will be led by (Leigh Hermann (0417 147 260, hermannsuk@hotmail.com) on behalf of the Brindabella Bushwalking Club

From the Hanging Rock car park we first visit nearby Hanging Rock, then walk the Ashbrook Firetrail exploring tall forests and wet gullies along the way.  We cross two creeks - Ashbrook Creek and then Mountain Creek. After reaching Mountain Creek Road we will walk the Cascade and Lyrebird Trails, before returning to the cars the same way. 

This is a pleasant forested walk for a warm day.  I don't expect we'll need to wade the creeks, however recent rain may have raised water levels. If you don't want wet feet bring Volleys or Crocs and a towel. Or you may prefer to wet your boots and keep your feet cool. As this is an out and back walk, the creeks will each be crossed twice. 

The walk will be around 11km, with a climb of around 300m, all on track.  It won't be fast.

Weather: A forecast maximum of 30C with a 25% chance of at least 1 mm rain.  Light winds 20-30km/h during the morning.

Those doing their first Wednesday Walk, and those who are not members of the CBC, BBC or NPA, must contact the leader to discuss the level of difficulty of the walk.
