Easy/Medium Wednesday Walk - 4 February - Arboretum And Molongolo River Reserve (BBC)
Wed 04th Feb 2026
Bookings available to active members only.
No bookings required for joint club Wednesday Walks
This Easy to Medium graded walk will be led by Ian Moorcroft (0434978755, Ian_moorcroft@hotmail.com) on behalf of the Brindabella Bushwalking Club.
This will be a relatively easy walk taking in the National Arboretum and the Molongolo River mainly along fire trails and designated walking trails. There are excellent views of Lake Burley Griffin along the way. Owing to the forecast maximum of 33 degrees the walk will commence at 8:00 am. The BBC grading for this walk is 7.
Starting from the Cork Oak Plantation car park we will head down to join the Bicentennial National Trail before passing under the Tuggeranong Parkway via an underpass. We will then pass by the National Zoo and Aquarium before heading down to the Molongolo River through the pine forests. After walking along the river we will head up around Bold Hill through the pine forests back to the arboretum passing Dairy Farmers Hill, Gallery of Gardens and the Visitor’s Centre where we could stop for lunch. From there it is a short walk back past the “Wide Brown Land” sculpture to the cars. I expect we will finish early in the afternoon. (Rather than eating at the Visitors Centre, we could head back to the cars for an earlier finish.)
Those doing their first Wednesday Walk, and those who are not members of the CBC, BBC or NPA, must contact the leader to discuss the level of difficulty of the walk.
