Kosciuszko NP: Snowshoe Day Trips (various) out of Charlottes Pass (waitlist)

The road to Charlottes Pass usually opens after the October Long Weekend. We will take advantage of the snowshoeing opportunities this presents by doing day trips over 3 to 4 days from a lodge based in Perisher. Destinations include Club Lake, Mt Carruthers, Twynham, Blue Lake, Hedley Tarn, Mt Stilwell, Kangaroo Ridge, Mt Guthrie, Paralyser Ridge and more. Even if the snow is poor or the weather is bad there is usually a spot we can find for a snowshoeing adventure. If the snow is really bad we'll just take a hike!

This activity is suitable for CBC members new to snowshoeing - if you can hike you can snowshoe. The caveat is you need to have good fitness and can get hold of the necessary gear to keep yourself comfortable and safe in mountain alpine weather. Note we will be snowshoeing at much higher altitudes (at least 1700m) than Canberra (around 600m) which may affect some people.

Accommodation will be at the Canberra Alpine Club Lodge in Perisher at a cost of $75 a night for non-CAC members. So for three nights the lodge cost will be around $225. Preferences will be given to participants who can commit to the full three nights. Note that booking inquiries will only be made valid AFTER the receipt of payment. Should you decided to pull out after you pay, I'll aim to fill your spot from the waitlist so that you won't be out of pocket. If that is not possible, the cancellation fee for pulling out before 1 month of the activity is around $11.

Snow shoes can be rented from Rhythm in Cooma or Wilderness Sports in Jindabyne; and also available for a fee from the Club. The leader will provide further details on appropriate gear to take.
