Stan's Kosi Weekend is back in 2026!

Sat 31st Jan 2026

Members Only 2 Days+
Part-day Walk Alpine Lodge Based Social

Stan Marks led an annual ‘Kosi weekend’ for over 20 years up until his passing in 2021.This activity continues to be held in memory of his contribution to the Club over many years. Sadly the 2025 weekend had to be cancelled but we're back on for 2026!

We'll arrive to Charlotte Pass on Saturday, and check out on Monday, once again staying at the Southern Alps Ski Club which has undergone major refurbishments since our last visit, There is also the opportunity of anyone who would like to spend more time to do so by prior arrangement.

True to Stan's legacy, this is very much a social activity with some bushwalking activity to balance it out. Therefore, it is a relaxing weekend with a variety of walks to cater for the majority of abilities within the group, potentially from L/R/X if there is anyone wanting to lead such a walk, to M/E-M options. All very much depend on the weather conditions in the mountains on any given day. Suggested options: SATURDAY afternoon - Mt Stilwell circuit from the lodge (~5km, 2hrs return); SUNDAY - Snowies Alpine Walk - Charlotte Pass Village to Perisher Valley (13km, 397m) car shuffle required; or Little Twynam and Mt Twynam circuit (14km, 784m); or Pipers Creek Trail circuit (15km,290m); MONDAY - Porcupine Rock (4.5km, 130m); or Mt Perisher Loop (8km, 410m); or Rainbow Lake (3km, 50m). Though if you prefer to just chill out in the Lodge and read a book or paint, then that's fine too. Walks for the next day are discussed the evening prio.

Dinner catering is on the basis of everybody brings something to share. There will be a roster drawn up for this to make sure we have enough of everything. Self-catering arrangements for breakfast and lunches. There are limited supplies available in the village, so best to bring whatever food and drinks you require to meet your own needs for the duration. Commercial kitchen, cool room fridges, oven/cooktop, microwave, slow cooker, cooking items, cutlery and crockery supplied.
