DESCRIPTION:At 5199m, Mt Kenya is the second highest mountain in Africa.
  It an extinct volcano and offers impressive landscapes and rich biodive
 rsity. While climbing Mt Kenya is reasonably popular, it nonetheless att
 racts far fewer trekkers than Mt Kilimanjaro. We will engage a local tre
 kking company to assist with logistics and to provide guiding services a
 nd porters. The proposal is to ascend the dramatic Chogoria route to the
  highest trekking point – Point Lenana, 4985m (two higher points requi
 re technical climbing) – and descend on the Sirimon route. For greater
  enjoyment of the trek and to allow good time for altitude acclimatizati
 on, we would look to allow around 6 days for the trek. The trek would be
  a suitable add-on for those doing the CBC Kilimanjaro trek (see Bilby l
 isting) but others are also invited to join. Participants should have a 
 good level of fitness and endurance for the trek. Indicative cost for th
 e trek is AUD1750. It would be possible to add a few days for a wildlife
  safari after the trek, either arranged individually by participants or 
 with some coordination on behalf of the group by the trip leader. (Note 
 re timing: Dates given on Bilby are indicative only – the intention is
  that the trip will run in January 2027 and follow a 2-3days after the C
 BC Kilimanjaro trek, allowing for transport from the Kilimanjaro area to
  Nairobi and at least one rest day in Nairobi.)
