Walking in & around Parque Nacional de Sierra Nevada (Spain)
Fri 25th Sep 2026
Bookings available to active members only.
Join me in a small group 18-day Spanish walking/sightseeing trip commencing 25th September 2026. We start in Granada staying in the historic Albaicin neighbourhood & spend 3 days there walking, sightseeing & visiting the famous Moorish stronghold, Alhambra. From there we'll bus for a couple of hours to our lodge accommodation in Pitres for a series of day walks (4 1/2 days in total). Then it's off to Arenas de San Pedro (bus, train & high-speed train) for 5 more days of walks (from our base accommodation). Then we head back via bus to Madrid for our last 2 days walking around the famous Case de Campo & visiting historic & modern bridges. The weather this time of year will be warm and dry. I aim to finish each day's walks no later than 3pm to allow for personal time to make phone calls, attend to emails, do some grocery shopping etc. You may wish to go out each evening into the village for an evening meal and/or some drinks. Expect to see festivals in some of these villages and to be encouraged by the locals to join in!
The walks in and around the Spanish villages take in historic bridges, forests and waterfalls and include some rocky paths. All walks are on the lower end of Medium . On some days we may make our walks shorter depending on how we all feel.

Accommodation information
We will aim to stay in the same accommodation wherever possible but we may be spread out a little (within easy walking distance of each other). I'll be looking for accommodation for us which is near to supermarkets, cafes etc and which has a laundry. Madrid overnighting will be in hotels. I hope to get accommodation in Pitres and Arenas de San Pedro that has cooking facilities. Single, twin-share and double accommodation will be on offer. Single will usually attract a supplement.
A multi day backpacking or base-camping activity.
