Two Tasmanian walks
Fri 13th Feb 2026
Bookings available to active members only.
These two walks are designed to cover rough and adventurous terrain, but with generally short distances. This will allow early-afternoon finishes, and optional explorations from camp. The first trip is 4 days in Mt Field National Park, starting on tracks and a marked route and finishing off track: Rodway Range route, Clemes Tarn, side trip to Mt Field West, then Florentine and Tyenna Peaks and Lake Belton. The second trip is 7 days, from the northern tip of Lake St Clair up on to the Traveller Range, to Mt Spurling and Lake Payanna. This trip follows a 2022 route and extends it. This remote area has thousands of lakes. Plus a rest day between the two trips and a couple of optional day walks. Participants will need to book soon as accommodation options for the in-between nights are becoming limited.
Requires (a) experience in multi-day carry-everything walking (b) experience in off-track walks graded CBC 'Rough' or equivalent (c) up-to-date gear that can cope with unpredictable Tassie weather (d) a record of getting on well with others on extended trips. If you are unsure of your ability, send a message to the leader who will send you photos of the terrain. Detailed itinerary available on request.
