MEDIUM/HARD WEDNESDAY WALK - 19 NOV 2025 (BBC)
Wed 19th Nov 2025
Bookings available to active members only.
No bookings required for joint club Wednesday Walks
This Medium to Hard graded walk will be led by Andrew Cupit (mob 0478309791, cupitandjen@outlook.com) on behalf of the Brindabella Bushwalking Club.
The walk starts at the Legoland carpark (past Honeysuckle Creek campground). We’ll follow the Legoland track south-east to the Belfry and Cloisters before heading down off track through thick scrub (with some Bursaria) to Orroral Valley. We’ll stop for morning tea at the large split rock. Then we will head up the Orroral Valley on track until we reach the end of the valley and cross the river. You may get wet boots (or remove boots to get across). We will then head eastward up to the ridge on a steep section off track in medium to thick scrub for around 2kms. Finally, we will continue off track along the ridge back to join the Legoland track past various rock features and the carpark. This walk is for strong experienced walkers.
Terrain - Steep slopes with thick scrub, rocky outcrops with cracks and rock scrambling, some tracks and grasslands. Strongly recommend scrub gloves, gaiters, sturdy shoes, eye protection, hat, sun protection, water and food for the day (and walking poles may be useful).
Distance: 14kms. Climb: 600m. BBC level: Hard (12) CBC (MR). Map: Corrin Dam.
Weather forecast (for Canberra): Min 7 Max 27. 95% very high change of no rain. Light winds.
Meeting point: Lanyon Valley Marketplace shops in time to leave by 7.30am (to beat the heat and allow plenty of time to explore the rocky outcrops).
Cars: 70 km ($10 per passenger). We will drive to Legoland carpark. The last part is rough and better suited to 4WDs.
Those doing their first Wednesday Walk, and those who are not members of the CBC, BBC or NPA, must contact the leader to discuss the level of difficulty of the walk.
